Nice to hear the HG Wells love. He had that ultimate nihilistic dread down to a science – it’s all over the Time Machine (that one has to be one of the most depressing “popular” stories – it ends about as well as it possibly can) and War of the Worlds.
It’s something the Orson Welles War of the Worlds captures perfectly.
That reminds me:
How about covering the Orson Welles War of the Worlds Radio Adaption? It’s freely available so everyone can get it easily (like the HP stories), it’s got at least as much horror as the Red Room – and judging by your reactions you’d probably say it has a lot more – and it’s frickin awesome too.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on that work.
