Was that an upside down Sigourney Weaver I saw there? I paused it but I couldn't get a positive ID. And honestly, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to have her 30 years older in the prequel....
I dislike how clean it all looks. Alien was a dirty, grimey, sci-fi film but this one has that sheen of dust free perfection about it. Don't get me wrong though, I'm definitely going to see it.

I've kind of wanted an EOD tat as at least roughly suggested by HPLHS's EOD emblem. It's nice, symmetrical, and I dig the overall color pattern. It wouldn't be a huge or extreme tattoo, but since the Esoteric Order of Dagon is probably my most used HPL reference, it would fit my overall fandom.
Oooo.....that would be cool. Maybe three or four inches long just below the base of the neck . . . I may have to get that one too. Anyhow, my appointment is on the 29th! And Genus, here's a Cthulhu I'd probably be willing to get. You know, sans clock hands.

A Cthulhu tat would just look like a fucked-up octopus. I agree to a point. I've seen quite a few Cthulhu tattoos and I wasn't often impressed. I'm not sure I'd be keen on a straight Cthulhu tattoo myself. I'm more partial to hinting at less corporeal concepts in the literature. I do want something with tentacles, though perhaps not what you would classically see in a tattoo. What I'd really love is to somehow convey the Colour in tattoo form....that would take some brainstorming.

I recently read Ship Breaker by Paulo Bacigalupi and I'm just starting The Windup Girl by the same author. He seems to be slightly young adult, though that impression may have been particular to Ship Breaker because this second novel already feels like more mature writing. Either way the stories are engaging and he's got some very interesting concepts for bleak, partially dystopian future societies.

I can't believe this topic doesn't yet exist. I could have sworn it did....perhaps in the old forums. Tax season is coming to the Americas, and that means I'm going to get more tattoos with my return! I've got plans for a fancy-ish eldersign (Lovecraft's design), and I'm considering a tentacled/amorphous/glowing-orb/something. I'll need to discuss it with my artist since she's doing all of the legwork. I'll be sure to post pictures once they're finished, but I'd love to see any Lovecraft inspired tattoos you guys might have, or have found on the Internet, or your friends', or what have you. And to further feed my unending Lovecraft/Mieville man-crush, here's a picture of China Mieville with his new tat. This guy is a university professor.

If you're interested, China Mieville wrote a short story called Reports of Certain Events in London, which is perhaps an homage to The Street, only infinitely better and thoroughly creepy. It can be found in his Looking for Jake collection. This short story, in the form of a collection of fictional documents supposedly "received" by the author, presents the idea that there exist certain autonomous streets which phase in and out of existence...

start leaving cheep Macy's store jewlery at her doorstep!
I think "cheap" and Macy's don't really go together. Although I'm pretty sure you could get one of their shopping bags for $30.00. If you catch it during a sale... Bob I could use the gift card to distract the lady at the jewelry counter and cut my way through the glass while she's checking the balance. And now I'm upset the binoculars aren't Swiss Army....

I love it. Plus, it's one of those rare moments when Lovecraft actually writes dialogue, and it's so perfect. Easily my favorite quote.
