That would be beyond excellent, but let's give the guys some space, they're bus enough as it is. I guess that when they're ready, they're ready.
17  General Category / General Discussion / Re: H. P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Rises on South Park Part 3 of 3 on: November 13, 2010, 05:57:03 AM
The ending was hillarious. And there's probably a little Yog-sothoth in Kenny, I assume. (He was conceived during a cult meeting, and when he dies he gets reborn instantly.)
18  General Category / Episode Discussion / Re: What is non-Euclidean Geometry? on: November 12, 2010, 05:15:06 AM
I think Euclid addressed that in his second edition, but the work was lost. Well, except for the Vatican Library copy and another one in Arabic. But I think you've hit upon it, this is what he was hinting at.

Sounds suspiciously like another book that gets frequent discussion on the podcraft...
19  General Category / Episode Discussion / Re: Episode 59 - The Colour Out of Space - Part 1 on: November 12, 2010, 05:12:44 AM
I agree with Kryptych, Lovecraft saw the universe for what it was: neither caring nor malicious, just completeley mindless and indifferent.
20  General Category / General Discussion / Re: H. P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Rises on South Park Part 2 of 3 on: November 11, 2010, 02:56:53 PM
Just saw part three... what a hillarious way to end the trilogy. I want to discuss it, but I don't want to spoil it for people who haven't seen it yet.

That was realy great.
Was it good for you too?
22  General Category / General Discussion / Re: A concern about the future of the Podcast... on: November 11, 2010, 08:04:47 AM
I second Arthur Gordon Pym, what a great tale that was. But if you guys decide to end it, it's cool. You have done so much, and now we are getting at the best stories from HPL. It will take a while before everything is over.
23  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Pluto, the Kuiper belt, Yuggoth, and you on: November 11, 2010, 08:03:33 AM
Not from what we know, but from what we know, Pluto shouldn't be there either, so read into that what you will.
24  Mythos Matters / Lovecraft Literary Talk / Re: HPL stories you just don't really care for on: November 10, 2010, 05:54:51 PM
The Shadow Out of Time? Realy? That's quite a surprise to me, not to say a bit shocking. I was hypnotized by the entire story on my first read-through, and have re-visited that strange, dream-lost city ever since in my dreams. The second part got actually a bit exciting, with his underground exploration, and I was realy shocked at what he found!

And even his "dreamworld" stories have a certain charm to me, their otherworldlyness and removal from common day life makes more then up for their inherit weirdness.
altho I absoluteley loath the quest of Iranon. It has no redeeming qualities. Just like the street.

And the horror at red hook. I can get past the.... you know, but the story itself is just so dull. It's as if New York realy was poisoning his mind!
25  Mythos Matters / Lovecraft Literary Talk / Re: Pickman's Model on: November 10, 2010, 05:48:53 PM
This is realy one of my favorite stories, it's not all that scary, but it's all about atmosphere.
And I could totally see a talented film maker, perhaps of the Chris and/or Chad kind, make it into a film in the same way as the Man from Earth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man_from_Earth), wich was also just dialogue and atmosphere.

Sometimes, you just gotta love mankind.
27  Mythos Matters / Lovecraft Literary Talk / Re: "Retconning" in Lovecraft on: November 10, 2010, 05:43:00 PM
I think he just went along with whatever suited him best. He never would have guessed his stories to be published in books anyway. In puinguin books, no less! Remember he wrote for pulp magazines, and the only ones who would realy notice the retcon would be his friends and maybe a fan or two.
28  Mythos Matters / Lovecraft Literary Talk / Re: The 'racist Lovecraft' thread on: November 10, 2010, 05:40:41 PM
He had an Inuit friend? (Yes, yes, PC for the PC god!) that would be awesome! He... he didn't happen to have an all too familliar tornasuce, did he?
29  Mythos Matters / Lovecraft Literary Talk / Re: The Colour Out of Space (spoilers, but come on) on: November 10, 2010, 05:38:57 PM
Q. Why do Nahum Gardner's cows taste better than other cows?
A. Because they're a little meteor.

You're terrible  Kiss
30  Mythos Matters / Lovecraft Literary Talk / Re: The Shadow Over Innsmouth on: November 10, 2010, 05:38:17 PM
It may be the only action-packed* story HPL ever wrote, and for that alone it is interesting, but the way he deals with it is so intense, as if you where realy trying to escape from the hotel, making up an escape plan on the spot. And the twist ending, that has been hinted at since chapter one. Normally Lovecraft's "twists" are clearly visible from space, but this time he knew what he was doing.

And I wish I where a deep one.
