1  Mythos Matters / Cthulhu Entertainment & Gaming / Re: Just for fun: Pitch your Lovecraftian TV show ideas! on: August 17, 2011, 10:17:36 PM
That post was 3 years ago, so I doubt we'll be seeing this show any time soon. Though the company responsible still has it listed on their website as "in development", complete with a pitch package that details each character and the pilot's synopsis. It's hilariously terrible if you have the time to read it Smiley

John Carpenter's The Thing is how I discovered HPL. I was researching said film and nearly every website made reference to him, and because The Thing is my favourite film of all time, I felt compelled to see where its influences came from.

I go into more detail here if you're interested...

I was positive that I had replied to this thread, but I can't find my response, so...

It's a tough decision between The Haunter of the Dark and the Mi-Go, but I'd probably lean more towards the Mi-Go purely because they are more fleshed out.

I know I'm jumping the gun here, but I just created a little wordcloud for this story that I wanted to share. I've never read it, but the fact that the most common words (other than a name) are "mirror" and "glass", I'm certainly curious to now, just to find out how they are relevant Smiley

I created a wordcloud for this story just tonight. For those who might not know, a wordcloud takes the most common words and sizes them proportionately. This is how it looked:

If you self-published with a place like lulu.com, you could just print-to-order, that way you're not losing any money if the demand isn't there... though I'm sure it would be. I know I'd buy a copy Smiley

P.S. You Haunter of the Dark looks like a better version of mine: http://danial79.blogspot.com/2010/08/horror-in-clay.html

It's always bothered me that people draw Mi-Go heads as pink brains, when they are described in the actual story as this:

"... convoluted ellipsoid, covered with multitudes of very short antennae..."

"... pyramided fleshy rings or knots of thick, ropy stuff covered with feelers..."

I'm not sure where the pink brain idea originally came from, but everyone else seems to have run with it.

So anyway, here is my rendition as accurate as I can get it from the text.

Personally, I think it's even more bizarre and alien-looking than just a brain Cool

9  Mythos Matters / Cthulhu Entertainment & Gaming / New Lovecraft Webcomic on: April 10, 2011, 09:22:30 PM
Hey Guys,

Just wanted to let you all know about a new Lovecraft webcomic that a friend and I have just started up called (in)sanity.

Come check it out and feel free to comment and such: http://insanitycomic.blogspot.com/

Cheers,
Danial

Not saying you shouldn't make your own, but there is a Yig short currently being made: http://yigthemovie.com/

I've just been reading a story by Marvel, called Realm of Kings, which is just oozing with Lovecraftianisms. To begin, the subtitle is "The Stars Are Wrong". The story is that a tear in our universe leads to another dubbed, "The Cancerverse", which has been taken over by The Many Angled Ones. Instead of the Hulk, Bruce Banner transforms into what appears to be a Shoggoth. And also, they use "fhtagn" as a curse word, which is pretty cool. Also, the headquarters of the Revengers (alternate version of the Avengers) is called "The Trapezohedron". There are probably more references, but I'm just spouting these from memory Smiley

Those pics are off DeviantArt if anyone is looking for them. Just search for "Haunter of the Dark" and they should come up on the first page Smiley

I love this story, and found some rather awesome pictures someone made of it:

Has anyone mentioned the film adaptation yet?
