John Carpenter's The Thing is how I discovered HPL. I was researching said film and nearly every website made reference to him, and because The Thing is my favourite film of all time, I felt compelled to see where its influences came from. I go into more detail here if you're interested...

I know I'm jumping the gun here, but I just created a little wordcloud for this story that I wanted to share. I've never read it, but the fact that the most common words (other than a name) are "mirror" and "glass", I'm certainly curious to now, just to find out how they are relevant

It's always bothered me that people draw Mi-Go heads as pink brains, when they are described in the actual story as this: "... convoluted ellipsoid, covered with multitudes of very short antennae..."
"... pyramided fleshy rings or knots of thick, ropy stuff covered with feelers..."I'm not sure where the pink brain idea originally came from, but everyone else seems to have run with it. So anyway, here is my rendition as accurate as I can get it from the text. Personally, I think it's even more bizarre and alien-looking than just a brain

I've just been reading a story by Marvel, called Realm of Kings, which is just oozing with Lovecraftianisms. To begin, the subtitle is "The Stars Are Wrong". The story is that a tear in our universe leads to another dubbed, "The Cancerverse", which has been taken over by The Many Angled Ones. Instead of the Hulk, Bruce Banner transforms into what appears to be a Shoggoth. And also, they use "fhtagn" as a curse word, which is pretty cool. Also, the headquarters of the Revengers (alternate version of the Avengers) is called "The Trapezohedron". There are probably more references, but I'm just spouting these from memory
