Thanks, old book. I'm able to use it now. The sign in page seems a little buggy to me, but it's working.

I subscribed last night, but like a complete idiot I've become locked out because I was having problems with my password. How long does the lock out last?

Moore has penned numerous HPL inspired stories in the past, so it's quite possible that his Swamp Thing run has that influence, as well. I really must read his ST run at some point.
9  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim on: December 17, 2012, 01:24:21 PM
Agreed Tekelili. This is definitely an outright homage to Kaiju movies. But the whole dimensional portal sounds neat Smiley

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2vKz7WnU83E The full trailer is finally up.

"We always thought alien life would come from the stars, but it came from deep beneath the sea. A portal between dimensions in the Pacific Ocean. Something out there had discovered us. They counted on the humans to hide, give up and fail." I dunno, it's sounding kinds Lovecrafty to me Smiley
11  General Category / Episode Discussion / Re: Old episode where Chris says "softback" instead of "paperback" on: November 19, 2012, 12:33:20 PM
Isn't that from The Dreams in the Witchhouse eps?
12  Mythos Matters / Lovecraft Literary Talk / Re: HPL as a character in Mythos Fiction on: November 14, 2012, 12:29:34 AM
The Arcanum, features HP, as well as Conan Doyle, Houdini and Marie Laveau. It's not a bad book actually. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Arcanum_%28novel%29
13  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Web of Conspiracy on: November 01, 2012, 01:19:04 PM
Probably the greatest book ever written on paranoid conspiracy is Foucault's Pendulum, by Umberto Eco. It was mesmerizing Smiley

I listened to it on Facebook. Yeah, Curran seems well intentioned, but very uninformed. I imagine the book has nothing of value in it for fans.
15  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Do you have a favorite story? Just one? on: October 19, 2012, 03:10:06 PM
After many years of re-reads it's still hard to pick a single favourite. But if pressed, I think the one that is the most succinct and tightly scripted and that has all the hallmarks of an HPL story is The Temple. I love the ambiguity of it as well. We never really know just what happened to our Iron Willed Captain, and whether it really happened at all. Really good writing all in all. Plus, as discussed elsewhere, it would make a kick ass movie Smiley
