St. Patrick's Day?

St. Patrick's Day is truly an event of indescribable cosmic horror:

I don't know, EricLofgren, I kind of think the sprite (red thing) looks a bit like the tip of a really cracked finger nail. So that makes it just about the right scale for one of the Old Ones.

The 'sprite' in the diagram looks like some sort of portal to the Outside has opened, sphincter-like, in the Earth's atmosphere and plasmic/fungoid Tendrils of Indescribable Nastiness are seeping down into our world, blindly groping around to nutrients to absorb...something like that, anyway.

I guess we will never know... BTW, its a real phenomenon. It just screams the Colors to me.

There was a gorgeous example of this earlier today where I live (southern Netherlands). I could block out the sun with my fingers in order to see the colours...absolutely beautiful and spectral. First time I've seen it, that I can remember.

I just realized that the title of this whole thread is mispelled.

No it's not, your primative human eye just cannot detect the glorrious color in which it is rendered. Wink

"Misspelled," but anyway... Smiley

Those magnetic prismatic lights in the sky also presage earthquakes, in certain configurations, cf. Charles Fort, "earthquake lights," Book of the Damned et al.

Hmm, I think those 'earthlights' are a separate phenomenon - can't imagine they'd be bright enough to notice during daylight hours, anyway. But the fact they appear at night and presage disaster just makes them that much cooler, of course!

Edit: actually a quick search shows up some amazing photos taken in daylight...

pretty freaky!
