When I become a millionaire I'm going to throw suitcases of money at these guys so they'll release more movies at a much more rapid pace. This wait has reduced me to an amorphous shadow of my former self.

Anyone seen the movie yet?

Because... it's... AWESOME.  Grin

It's not as faithful to the exact letter of the story as The Call of Cthulhu (they added a third act and some characters that weren't in the story), but every bit as faithful to the spirit of the thing. The changes are good changes. It's really creepy, lovingly schlocky in all the right places, and just a ton of fun to watch. I couldn't be more pleased with it.

I don't know how much I can say without spoiling anything, but I really like the way the Mi-Go were designed (potential spoiler: they're cyborgs; their wings are mechanical, and not all the Mi-Go have them). It's just a minor touch, and one they never call much attention to, but I like it.

Oh, and a hearty "bravo" to the cast as well. Outstanding performances in particular from Matt Foyer (Wilmarth), Daniel Kaemon (Noyes), and Barry Lynch (Akeley), not to mention the good Mr. Leman as Charles Fort.

My copy arrived today.   Going to start watching in about five minutes.  It's twenty past two in the morning, but who cares?

I watched it with my wife a few days ago.

First and foremost, I'll say that it was a great movie and I am very happy the HPLHS made it.  That being said, I didn't really care for the ending.  I mean, I know they had to add about 50% to the movie in order to flesh it out, and I certainly trust them to do something along what Lovecraft may have done himself, but I just kind of felt it wasn't a spectacular ending.  That in no way is intended as negative criticism, really, and it's just my opinion.  It was still absolutely worth the price and the viewing.

I don't know if any of you have watched the "behind the scenes" stuff, but it's pretty cool. Of course I get a bit of a slagging as the guy who edited the thing is David Robertson, with whom I like to give a bit of a hard time. I mean, he dishes it out way more than I, but he does get to manipulate my interview footage.

Well played, Mr. Robertson. Well played.

Anyway, it's super cool and fun and my ugly mug is all over it. Watch it.

I finally got a chance to watch the Netflix version of "Call of Cthulhu" (though I still do not own the DVD Embarrassed) and got to see the interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. I FINALLY get the in-joke about  the cougar in the pit. Very good stuff. I do have to disagree with one thing, though, Chris: your fauxhawk hair cut. I usually don't bring up anything purely physical to carry on about, but I hope your wife has cured you of that eldritch and terrible urge to do that to your head. Wink

Bloody marvellous, all of it!

I was genuinely gripped all the way through and even gave a gasp at a certain presumed death in the third act. The new story additions really worked for me and were played so well by everyone, Matt Foyer and Daniel Kaemon really stood out, Kaemon's Noyes was superbly charmingly entertaining.

Looks great too, improved cameras aside all praise should go to the art and costumes and… oh, gushing much? Well, I thought it was really very good, genuinely very good.

Here's hoping the next Mythoscopic release will take less time to complete!

And incidentally:
