I already live in New England, although in Connecticut. Not sure if he ever wrote about us...
Although if I had to choose one place to visit, it'd have to be Antarctica. I'm already obsessed about going there sometime in my lifetime...the fact that HPL wrote about it is just icing on the cake.
It's the only continent I haven't visited. You CAN, at least, take a cruise. I imagine that's the way I'll finally get there, though not very romantic from an HPL standpoint.

Well, considering the closest Lovecraft ever came to romance was "Thing on the Doorstep", you should probably be glad it's not romantic from an HPL standpoint.

My wife and I did our first real date at a cemetery, after dinner. Realized then we were made for each other. BTW, the thought of Asenath having an old man inside her while she's banging her hubby creeps me the hell out.

I don't think it's a normal type of cruise. I think it's more of an expedition-type thing. I believe it's also REALLY expensive. A friend of mine got to go with his grandfather back in high school, but I believe it was aboard a science vessel. His claim to fame was stepping out onto the continent while wearing shorts.

It is now my life's goal to be the first man to set foot on Antarctic soil in a chicken costume.

Well yeah. That was kind of the point. Oh, and Genus, consider the gauntlet dropped. Bob

Hey everyone, new guy here
I know this isn't exactly what was meant by the topic, but I think it counts:
Living in the Boston area, I recently did a bit of a research trip out to Salem and Marblehead for a Lovecraft-based project I'm working on. Salem was great, but the highlight was later in the evening, after it had gotten dark, when we drove through the back streets of Marblehead looking for the cemetery as described in The Festival. We just happened to stumble upon it, and proceeded to explore, lit only by a big, bright full moon, and the screen of my phone as I read HPL's descriptions of exactly where we were standing. That counts, as far as I'm concerned!

Living in the Boston area, I recently did a bit of a research trip out to Salem and Marblehead... I have a really stupid question to ask. I haven't visited Marblehead yet, but can you tell me how the locals pronounce it? This is something I argue about all the time. Is it something like: "Mahble-head"?
