It's a stretch to call these videos lovecraftian in any way other than that the main guy isn't what you'd call your typical hero type. He never actually faints but he runs away screaming a lot and he panics at the drop of a hat but he's also strangely endearing (after about the first fifteen minutes.) He's also exceptionally funny.
This is story of survival that rivals, I have to say, the Walking Dead series in it's intensity. It was filmed in a game mod called DayZ. The mod was made for an extremely hardcore military simulator called Arma II. Each episode is 20 minutes or so long. There are seven of them so far and, be warned, you may end up watching them all in one go.
