Maybe del Toro can turn Stretch Armstrong into a Robert E. Howard adventurer/wanderer. Didn't Stretch also have some sort of archvillian enemy??

Yeah, but the goop inside of him didn't taste as good as Stretch when you ripped them open to drain their sweet, sweet innards.

Know what Universal is making instead?

Another movie version of the game Doom. For $175 million, not $125 million.

BOYCOTT!!! Freaking boycott!!! Don't see it! Tell your friends to avoid it! Picket the theaters that show it! Spam the homepages of the actors and director! If this shit is for real then I'm waging war on Hollywood as of right this damned second!

Well, i am going to get a lot of flak for this but it has to be said: i do not think that GDT can do ATMOM justice. Noone can.
With that kind of budget it can never be faithful to the book and still make a profit. Never.
So it may be for to the best to put the project to sleep.

I wonder, if you got the write animators, could an animated version of AtMoM work? Certainly not in any anime style, or anything "cartoony" but maybe a more realistic style. It makes me wonder...

This cant be true. It has to be a prank. No way would they blow $175,000,000 on a film that bombed the first time around.

Plus, when was the last time gamers gave a crap about Doom?

It drives me mad that the Hollywood studios can't make a film without it being a 'tent-pole' massive endeavor with exactly x amount of mass appeal, x amount of 3D potential and x amount of guaranteed merchandising. Ahtzib made these same points in his blog, (thumbs-up btw!) but i just want to re-iterate the point because we often forget how some of the best films of all are just a shoe-string budget, some creative minds and a desire to tell the story. Though I am not saying a little CGI wont help:)

I gather that's the Hollywood version of a cleansing bolt of lightning. It sure felt like one.

Another Doom Movie?Huh I weep for humanity...

Well the last one only lost $32,000,000.00...

... god, I cant even make up a joke for how idiotic this choice is.

I asked the good video game folk over on TGWTG forums and what do you know? No one has gave a crap over Doom in years.

And like I keep ranting, people HATE video game movies! Plus, how are you going to do this without it being an R?

I have to go lay down now.

I think we should all send our resumes to the movie studio considering this reboot...because clearly anybody can be the CEO of this studio.
