Just curious if anyone else here has tried their hand at writing a Lovecraft-related screenplay?

I'm currently working on two myself:

  • The first is a short and is to do with a teenage girl's transformation into a Deep One, and is complete save for one scene.
  • The second is to be a feature and is about a group of hikers encountering some Mi-Go. This one is only 15 pages in, however I do have a completed outline so it's only a matter of time to write it.

I'm hoping I will have one or both completed by the time the next HPLFF comes around so I can enter it in their screenplay competition Cool

I have a Novella, "Mischief Murdered Boredom" heavily inspired by LoveCraft.  It's basically two pranksters who challenge each other to see who can make $100,000. dollars first.  The catch is they have to make the money grave-robbing.  One of the participants in this contest finds a Grimoire and chaos ensues.

I've been thinking about putting it into screenplay format.

I did a screenplay version of The Thing on the Doorstep - then recently re-edited it into an audio script, so I can actually do somethign with it.
Smiley
It's an eminently filmable story, one of the simplest, FX-wise.

Ah, looks like the start of a writers group.

Is there a screenplay competition this year?

I'd heard that Stuart Gordon was planning on doing that story but it must have been put in hold for all this Poe and Reanimator stuff.

I stick to my audio dramas, nowadays - something I can actually get done, you know?
Cool
Seemed silly to stack up manuscripts, when I can podcast and win awards instead.

Yeah, I've definitely been meaning to have a listen to some of those stories.

Do you have a favorite story there?
