I got (and read) "H.P. Lovecrafts The Haunter of the Dark and other grotesque visions" by John Coulhart today. I liked the adaptions of "The Haunter of the Dark" & "The Call of Cthulhu" (and also the unfinished "The Dunwich Horror")......but the rest seems to me like a load of Giger-masturbation.....tiresome indeed. Edit:I found this comic-version of "At the Mountains of Madness" at Amazon today...anyone here who have read it ? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1906838127/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=AGLPMRINU0Q3T

Any of you have any thoughts on Alan Moore`s " The Courtyard" ? I bought it, is short...but most excellent ! A short summary: " Originally it began as a short story by Moore, as part of H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. The plot centres around an FBI agent who specialises in "anomaly theory," being assigned to investigate three seemingly unrelated murder cases in Red Hook. When the investigation leads to a night club, and onto the apparent use of a drug named Aklo, the agent soon finds things are not at all as they seem." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Moore's_The_Courtyard For those of you who would like to get more in depth there is also "The Courtyard companion". I recomend that one gets both " The story itself was just the beginning of the mystery of what lurks in the Courtyard. The Courtyard Companion delves deep into the Lovecraftian roots of the masterpiece! This volume reprints the original script it was drawn from with full annotations of all of the Lovecraftian references (over one hundred in total) painstakingly researched by scholar NG Christakos. Also included is Alan Moore's original short story the series was adapted from, several new pinups and art by series artist Jacen Burrows, and a new essay from adapter Antony Johnston." http://www.amazon.com/Alan-Moores-Courtyard-Companion-Moore/dp/1592910165/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1296255895&sr=1-2

I've just been reading a story by Marvel, called Realm of Kings, which is just oozing with Lovecraftianisms. To begin, the subtitle is "The Stars Are Wrong". The story is that a tear in our universe leads to another dubbed, "The Cancerverse", which has been taken over by The Many Angled Ones. Instead of the Hulk, Bruce Banner transforms into what appears to be a Shoggoth. And also, they use "fhtagn" as a curse word, which is pretty cool. Also, the headquarters of the Revengers (alternate version of the Avengers) is called "The Trapezohedron". There are probably more references, but I'm just spouting these from memory

Huh, I'll have to check that out. Generally I steer clear of alternate universe stuff from marvel (as a lot of it is kind of just crappy) but you certainly have my interest piqued here.

I just finished The Thanos Imperative which builds off of Realm of Kings. The Cancerverse invades the regular Marvel Universe, and all sorts of craziness occurs. Galactus and an army of Celestials vs. Lovecraftian horrors from beyond space and time (and losing!) was worth the price of admission.
