You're right. I don't actually have a problem with the words or the vocabulary (unless it's a wacky proper name) it's what Lovecraft decides to focus on. I really hate to hear about other people's dreams. When someone goes I had this crazy dream, I shut down. Maybe because what they're really saying is that "Here is some strange stuff that never really happened." Now my dreams are important to me, because they feel like they really happened. They can be fun or terrifying or just interesting... for ME! I stopped telling folks about my dreams long ago.
With Lovecraft, it's a little of that. It seems to be unfiltered idea spewing and I know that Lovecraft can filter out the crappy stuff most of the time. With the Dreamlands stuff, I just seems not too. I can tell it's beautiful and important to him, as a writer, I just falls short for me on this stuff. FOR ME! Other folks may connect with this on a very deep level and that's great! I wish I could.
That said, there are some really cool thing in dreamquest. I flippin' love parts of it and will sing my high praises for those parts. I mean, I love Lovecraft. Warts and all. I'm not as harsh on his stories after I read them over again and do my notes. I'll quit talking about it and save it for the show!
Oh, and I never read off the computer screen, I always read either in bed or in a comfy chair with a cup of coffee (Lovecraft coffee mug) and a cookie or two. It's great.

I am liking it more and I actually think it would make a very cool animated movie.
There's one already out there (at an attention-zapping 100 minutes!), but there's always room for more Lovecraft on film, I say.

I haven't seen it, but it looks like they just took the comic book and shot it. When I'm talking animated, I mean ANIMATED!

Yeah, I think that's
exactly
what they did, Chris: it's pretty limited overall, I have to confess.
So, does this mean you'll be working on an ANIMATED version of Dream-Quest then...?
