Just wondering about upcoming full readings and about some of the readers we've had. Is there any you guys are crazy about? Besides Leman, of course.

Bruce Greene? Lance Holt? Mike Holmes? Rachel Ford? Heather Klinke?

Don't worry. None of them are on the forums.

They are all great. The only one I had a little fuss about was the reader of The Other Gods, only because I don't think her voice fit the story very well. The reader of Martin's Beach should be on again for sure.

I wish I could be a reader Tongue

Rachel Ford is the perfect voice for Dream Quest. Especialy if you do a full audio of that one.

P.S. Just read your reply on that issue and am sad you cant do a full audio, but she is still the perfect voice for this story.  Also Pete Lambert would also be a great choice for The Mound. Especialy if you have him read the comedic immatations of American Aborigine speach patterns.

Well we've had a lot of episodes so there's no way I can remember every reader.  However, I don't remember ever having had any issues with any of your readers, so I feel sure, whoever you choose to read what, it will be a great listen.

I want to read for you! Cheesy . . . Ok, but seriously, I'd love to. Call me . . . Right, back to the question at hand. All of them were great. None of them use the kinds of irritating articulation that many readers employ; articulations that make the listener wish he or she was having a bear horn set off next to their head. You know the kind. Those four all have calming voices, but not the kind of frustrating calm you get on NPR, the good kind that draws you in and then whallops you across the head with the perfect blend of drama and inflection. I'd love to hear them all perform for the readings.

Is Rachel Ford your wife, who read "Polaris?" Because she's aces. And y'all don't have nearly enough female voices on the show (perhaps unavoidably, considering the author).

To be sure I'm a late-comer to the boards but frankly I haven't quite distinguished the voices other than Chris and Chad, a reader and female vocalist introducing HP Podcast.

My vote is to listen to an increase in female voice presence in the show regardless of the role.
If you can get Stevie Nicks that will work too.  Cool

Seriously, all your readers have been spot on, and I trust your judgement completely. Leman is indeed great, I especially liked his performance in the Call of Cthulhu, but all of your readers should be in the audiobook business.

Matt Foyer may be my favorite. He just sounds like a Lovecraftian protagonist, somehow - articulate, scholarly, somewhat dry. Andrew Leman is a bit more theatrical, which works well for the gothic and dreamy stories, but Matt Foyer's voice and delivery work better for Lovecraft's later works, after he found his voice.

Of course they're both outstanding, and they can both make even the worst lines sound convincing.

Hey, is Trevor Towers available to do readings? He has such a deep macho voice.

I can't remember his name, but I do remember thinking the reading on The Hound was awesome!

I'd have to cast a vote for Matt Foyer, as well.  His characterization seems to mesh appropriately with many of the protagonists.  I think his voice exudes erudition and confidence, but he has the capacity to convey fragility as well.

I, myself, am fond of Chris Weitz. (for those who don't remember, Pickman's Model) I would love to hear him come back.
Also Branney.

I have to agree with what's already been said about Matt Foyer. He's able to read many of Lovecraft's long, rambling paragraphs in a rhythm that establishes depth and tension. Bruce Green is great at conveying sinister madness, as we saw with his "From Beyond" treatment so I'm glad he's doing the full reading for it.

If I might make a request for a future reader - either on the podcast or the next cycle of these "ransom" readings, if there is one - it would be for the voice actor who played Zadok Allen in Dark Adventure Radio Theater's "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" and Dr. Armitage in "The Dunwich Horror." His voice has this great raspy timbre and he's clearly an excellent actor. I don't remember his name, but I'd love to hear him on the podcast.
