Hey, folks... It's up there! Not a big story. Next week gets 'cool.' Get it?

As ever, great episode.  I particularly liked the reader for this episode.  He really did the end of 'In the Vault' justice.  I rather like this story, even though it may not feel particularly Lovecraftian.

I was wondering:  when you have your guest readers do their reading do they record the entire story or just the sections you know you'll use in the podcast?  If they did the entire story then I say you should definitely compile and sell them, because I imagine many people would love to have a collection of audible stories for a rainy day.

Yep, your readers are always excellent, and I for one would happily pay money for something like what Narrerism was suggesting?  Perhaps that is something you could do once the podcasts come to an end?

Enjoyed the episode.  Made me decide to adapt In the Vault.  It's a nice little 10-minute story, I bet, once I get through with it...

Were anyone else's ankles feeling VERY uncomfortable while reading for this ep and then again during the podcast? Egad. *cringe*

I really like "In the Vault." I think it's one of Lovecraft's better Poe pieces, along with the much longer "Rats."

I too rather enjoyed The Vault.

However, did I miss it or was there no mention of next episodes tale?

Thanks for the great work.

Yes, it got me too. Didn't help that I decided to walk down the shop while listening to it. What a funny walk it must have looked.

Don't think they did mention next weeks episode on the show. However it is on the hppodcraft.com front page.
Apparently it's "Cool Air" which I'm sure I've seen as a short film at one point in time  Huh

For what it's worth, there's an interesting and pretty faithful adaptation of "Cool Air" on Night Gallery, Season 2, Episode 12.  You can see the episode for free on Hulu.com (well, at least in the USA you can).  The episode has a strong love interest element in it, not in the original story, but I think it's a nice addition given the TV format.

I'm with Fifer on this one; it's schlocky and cheesy and obviously flawed, and I like it anyway.  I think Lovecraft himself was well aware of this, and was having fun with the pulpy goodness; even that little "this isn't a comedy" disclaimer at the beginning makes me think HPL got a few chuckles out of writing this one.

There is an EXTREMELY good short film version from Lurker Films (the folks who put on the HPL Film Fest in Portland OR each October).  It's in black and white and Dr. Munoz is particularly effective.

Yes! Bryan Moore's Cool Air is one of the better Lovecraft adaptations. Go rent it. Hell, go buy it!

I was hoping to have Bryan on the show, but we had scheduling conflicts and ran out of time, so it's just me and fifer. And my wife is back narrating.

The lodge in "In the Vault" is probably the cemetery lodge, where the groundsman lives and Gray's Inn is not an inn as such but an area of London named after the inns of court.
