One of my favorite parts of Dream Quest is when the cats get involved and go to war.  I'm such a fan of cats, to think that they have there own little society and ranks, and that they can jump though space and just hang out on the moon, it's just a really awesome, imaginative though.

Here's two pages from the October 1973 Heavy Metal Magazine directly inspired by the Dream Quest cats:

Thanks for posting this.  I follow the Heavy Metal magazine from time to time and it's interesting to see them give HPL some coverage back in 1973.  I always find the art from back then interesting.  The artist here obviously has skill however, many of his figures at the top of the pages are childish.  Compared to what we expect from comics now, it gives the impression people only learnt how to draw in the last 30-40 years...that doesn't explain Da Vinci et al. though heheh.

Do you think that the man in the left panel on the first page is intentionally rendered to look like HPL?
The other thing that grabs me is the reference to an "infinite sea of cats" and then we're shown a finite sea of cats Smiley

Was this the only HPL stuff printed at the time in HM Magazine, or did they run a serial on the dreamquest stuff?

Awesome!! I kind of liked the cat bit, even if it felt random. It made me think of the Sandman "A Dream of a Thousand Cats."
