For anyone who's enjoyed the Arkham Horror boardgame, publisher Fantasy Flight Games is putting out a new miniature-based boardgame called Mansions of Madness. It's looking pretty cool; I dig the dhole models. Wink

Whoa - I'll definitely have to check this out.  Fantasy Flight always make good quality stuff (if not always good games).
It's badged under "Arkham Horror Files"
...oh it's also listed as "Not Yet Available"

It looks like it's in the mould of Descent (A Fantasy genre game), where a pre-determined game plan is role-played out by the gamers.  I wonder what the re-play value is or are FF just going to start pumping out campaign books (like with Descent).

It's also worth mentioning that they are releasing a new edition of Arkham Horror, along with sold-separately painted investigator miniatures for all 48 investigators in the game.

Whilst this is very cool and I'm sure it will be well done...and I'll get them anyway.
But I wish they'd sell the miniatures unpainted.  I'm sure this appeals to a smaller market but I like to be able to paint my own miniatures and once they are painted I can't bring myself to paint over the factory paint.

Again thanks for the tip, I'll look out for them!! Smiley

Well, I think their rationale behind it is that the core Arkham Horror set is a board game, so the target consumer is more casual than hobbyist. As far as I know, though, Mansion of Madness' minis are unpainted.

My local game store has the AH minis on display, and they look pretty decent for pre-paints.
