Just spent the last several hours listening to your show. AWESOME!!! Just awesome... Can't get enough of it. You guys have a new fan and I plan to spread the word. I host a monthly H.P. Lovecraft reading group and will have the members check out your show as well. Keep up the great work!

When you do run out would you consider giving other authors the same treatment - CA Smith, Hodgson, etc, etc?

Chad and I talk about it, but have come to no real decision. Perhaps a Robert E. Howard podcast? Clark Aston Smith? Bea Arthur?

One option is to explore stories in which some of Lovecraft's literary friends used his creations or were influence by his creations. I know of several, including a few of Howard's Conan stories, such as The Tower of the Elephant. Q

I agree with Brother Voodoo! I would stick with the Mythos writings. Smith or Lumley would be interesting spin-offs.

I'd suggest Chambers' "King In Yellow". At least it's available for free, so people can read it themselves without having to spend money on books. (Another option would be CAS, I've seen a website with what seemed to be most of his mythos writings.)

If you're gonna do another writer-specific podcast (which I totally support and encourage and hope for, but I know it's gotta be a bit of a chore, and you're probably looking forward to getting this thing over with), I'd love to hear you guys tackle Poe. It seems like the next logical step, somehow (covering classic American authors of weird and horror fiction, and all that), and you'd have a lot more high-quality fiction and poetry to read than if you were doing general Cthulhu Mythos stuff, so it wouldn't be nearly as painful.

wow, all good suggestions. Poe would be excellent. Klarkash too. You could divide these shows into precursors/antecedents and "followers." you could even do it semi-chronologically and wouldn't have to stick to strictly "Mythos" authors, Henry Kuttner and other Weird Tales authors would be a natural. Also, before you get to Lumley and company, don't forget Lin Carter.

I'm partial to Arthur Machen myself, I think a podcast about his weird works would be good, most of his writings can be found free online as well. I have always felt that Lovecraft's Azathoth was simply a reinterpretation of Machen's Pan.

I have to agree with the others on keeping the podcast within the realm of Lovecraft's...um...realm; Poe, Blackwood, and the such; but it would be great to also hear your take on more contemporary writers who were influenced by Lovecraft, and not necessarily just the ones who write within the mythos. Focusing on writers like Mervyn Peake, China Mieville, Jeff VanderMeer, and Kelly Link would be great (it just occurred to me that there needs to be a far broader presence of female writers of prominence in the field of weird fiction).

I agree with the need for more of us females.... Of course, i mostly only write scripts, so i don't know if I count.
Though it kind of parallels the female percentage and representation within the scifi/horror/gaming community as a whole - there's a whole lot more of us now then there were when i was young *cough, cough* years ago, but we're still generally a minority...

This might be a far out idea but it would be interesting for some of the more "creative" and "talented" listeners and fans of Lovecraft to write a short story in the "Style and/or Mythos" of Lovecraft and submit them to Chris and Chad. Then once they review the entries they could do a Pod Cast on that story. Maybe even interview the author... Once they have run out of Lovecraft material of course. Just an idea to get more listener involvement. Plus it kind of goes along with the Lovecraft Circle and the idea that he help young or aspiring writers. It would be like he is continuing this from beyond the grave in a way... Just an idea.

YES! I'm working on a manuscript for my thesis, which I could easily argue is within the scope of Lovecraft's more bizarre philosophies about vistas of the mind - though it might be a touch long. Having Chris and Chad review it would be incredible.

I would love to see the pod cast go to Robert W. Chambers, Algernon Blackwood, Arthur Machen and Poe just to name a few. I just published a new Machen limited edition collection that I would be more than happy to donate to you guys to get you started. This edition has an introduction, annotation and bibliography by S. T. Joshi. These are signed (by Joshi) and numbered to only 200 copies.
