Hi everyone,
My only Lovecraft books are the three Voyager 'Omnibus' editions. I've had these for 6 or 7 years, and re-read them many times, and the time has come to buy a new collection or anthology.
I would like to get something more comprehensive than the Omnibus editions, and maybe more solidly built (hardback would be nice, with good quality construction).
Does such a thing exist? I've had a browse around and the Omnibus set still seems to be the best.

Hardback and sweet as sugar.

That's the one I got for my birthday this year, and just recently finished. It is indeed pretty awesome.

The only stuff it's lacking are the "collaborations," like "Two Black Bottles" and "Horror at Martin's Beach."

I think there are still a lot of copyright issues with the collaborations. It used to be 75 years, no questions. Until Disney's stuff started getting to the date and now it seems the laws are being rewritten and being more complicated. HPL had no direct descendants so it makes things a bit more cut and dry.

So I've heard. I really don't know a thing about law.

Thanks Chris! That looks like a great volume! Doesn't appear to be available in the UK on Amazon, so I shall order it forthwith from the American Amazon :-)
Also I searched all over the house today for my 3 volume set, and two of them have mysteriously vanished.....I think I'll keep the new volume chained up, and possibly protected by Eldritch spells.

Arkham House's four volume hardcover collection includes most of the collaborations in a collection called "The Horror From the Museum". The current dust jacket illustrations aren't to my taste, but the books themselves are well made and the texts used are definitive:

I recently received H.P. Lovecraft: The Fiction from Barnes and Nobles. Seems to be a decent compilation. I do not think it includes the collaborations though. The elders here will prolly tell you of all it's iniquities. Smiley

I love that hardcover Barnes and Noble volume. It was worth the trip to the U.S. just to pick that up! It has stories that HPL wrote when he was ten XD

I also like the three Penguin books annotated by Joshi. These are really great if you want to read about the background behind the stories.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I ordered the Barnes and Noble book today. I've added the others to my list.
I can't wait to read all the stories I haven't yet seen  Smiley
