This story is real bad! A bit like "H.P. Lovecraft the Bounty Hunter". One thing about this is that Lovecraft stories is that they take place in place that H.P.L don't take place. Still not as bad as say, "The Street"!

"What?! You mean this 'electrocution device' on my head is in fact exactly what I was told it was? I could not have foreseen this!"

EDIT: So I just listened to the episode, and the story actually goes pretty differently from the way I remember it, which makes this comment completely nonsensical.

For some reason, while reading this story...I can't *not* hear it narrated in Paul McGann's voice. What the crap is up with that? What weird alien beam from outer of space is tweaking my brain to make it go "Oh, here's a story called The Electric Executioner and it's not going to be all that good and, as a bonus....um...you're going to vocalize every word and it's going to sound like Paul McGann...good day."

I need to hit the forums more. This episode is now up.

And yes. It's a terrible story.

Especially if he was reading it in the character of Golic from Alien3. Or in one of his "my thumbs have gone weird" moments from Withnail & I. Either way, totally insane...

The question is...is there anyone out there who actually enjoyed this story? I guess we've all had to do things we're not proud of at times in order to make a little cash.

I have to say this story got at least a chuckle out of me. The predictability and the hammines made it at least so bad it's good in my eyes. But yeah...maybe I'm in a minority.  Huh

I wouldn't go so far as to say that I liked it. But I liked it better than the last collab these two did. Bit of a chuckle & it wasn't the most painful thing I read. Looking forward to next week because I like Yig much better than either of the de Castro ones.

I tend to agree that this is a pretty weak story. I'm not sure I actively hate it as much as some of the others here, but it is rather bland and predictable. Throughout the whole beginning of the story where the protagonist was experiencing delays on the train I was very bored. I think he even mentioned something along the lines of the whole thing being a waste of time which certainly rang true for me! Smiley

Still, I do like reading some of his lesser known stuff. I just recently found this podcast (which is amazing, of course), and am going through the back-episodes while keeping up on the new ones. Finding a lot of stories I haven't read yet which is great.

Man, stepping straight from the crappiness of "The Electric Executioner" to the awesomeness of "The Mound" is gonna be quite a transition.

I got through this by imagining Bugs Bunny as the protagonist and Elmer Fudd as the madman.

"Now hold on a minute, Doc! Let a fella write his will first!"

"Well okay...but I weally am gonna ewectrocute you after that!"

Almost made it readable. Almost.

I just read the translation and it was horrible. I agree with Chris: this is the worst HPL story ever.

But how about the CM Eddy stuff "The beloved dead" and "Deaf, dump and blind". There is lot to say aubout the stories and about HPL's friendship with Eddy.

EXACTLY what I was thinking...  Cheesy

To be fair though - the crazy guy makes a good point about wasting all that electricity on the whole body when just frying the head will do... but still what's up with the teleporting thing - was that his selling point to the folks in New York?

"My electric executioner is self-cleaning!"  Was he gonna kill everyone and let their bodies all pile up in the "corpse-shaped haunted mountain"?  If so, why did the helmet go with him.... I just don't get it...

Anyway - "Corpse-shaped Haunted Mountain" would be a good name for a roller coaster in Lovecraftland.
