Just listened to the Mound part 3. If you are reading Sherlock Holmes or ever had, you should read A Study in Emerald by Neil Gaiman. It's a great mix of Holmes and HPL. Gaiman also has a story about the great Cthulhu himself. They are both great if you've never seen them.

You can find both at this link: http://www.neilgaiman.com/p/Cool_Stuff/Short_Stories

Happy reading!

Anyone ever play Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened? It came out a few years ago, and had a decent Lovecraftian plot.

I read "A Study in Emerald" a few years back and loved it. I generally don't really go in for people trying to write "Lovecraftian" stories, and this one surprised me by not trying to be lovecraftian in sytle, but more in context. Very good story.

I didn't like most of that anthology, but that one surprised me. I also liked Gaiman's "Old Shoggoth's Peculiar." His other Lovecraftian ones I liked a bit less, but oh well.

I've read 'A Study in Emerald'.  Very good.  I haven't played The Awakened since I haven't got a PC, (I'm using a Mac), but I've seen the walkthroughs on YouTube, and it does look very good.  The only Sherlock Holmes game I've played from that series was Sherlock Holmes versus Jack the Ripper.

You wouldn't think the rational world of Sherlock Holmes would mix with Lovecraft, but somehow, it does!

Well once you establish that cults and the belief in old gods and the end times is real, you can then proceed on a logical basis according to the given details. I've always thought that Victorian (Edwardian?) superstitions play right into a good Sherlock Holmes setting. After all, at the time, they were considered facts. Now chuck in a Cthulhu Cult to go with some freemasonry or Illuminati stuff and it works.

The whole reading of A Study In Emerald was available for free from audible.com a year or two back. Maybe it still is. It's a quality production, check it out.
