So I'm getting a kitten, and she (I I think; hard to tell with little kittens) needs a name. Seeing as how HPL was such a cat lover, I thought of mining his stories for cat names, but the only one I can think of off the top of my head, uh, starts with an "N." So I turn to y'all. Can you think of any decent names from Lovecraft that might reasonably apply to a cat?

Well, if it were a male cat I'd recommend "Menes" from The Cats of Ulthar. But for a female cat, I dunno. Female characters are few and far between. "Asenath" from The Thing on the Doorstep, maybe?

Yeah, it's tough. I was thinking maybe Ulthar, but that's a bit clunky for a cat name.
Hey, how about Keziah? That could work.
Any Dunsanian names that might fit?

There's always Lavinia. Or you could buck convention and call her Detective Thomas Malone.

Lavinia would be cute, but Cathulu is an instant favorite! I thought for sure That steve Would be taker...but I digress, Non gender specfic names are good to stick with ... I have Chicken named Xerxes, better safe than sorry, I learned that hard way. however it is funny to have a rooser named "cuddle puff" after I found out he was a rooser I quickly re-named to El Diablo, Cause he was the devil in chicken form...I kid you not.

Since s/he is white is a lot of places, you could call her "Cracker".
Lilith might also work. [shrugs] It is hard assuming a female. I'll likely do similar with my next cat that has no name.
You might call her Horribly Precious Lovecat.

Holy hell that cat is cute. If you wanted something cat-related I guess it could be Atal, but I'd say go for Wilmarth. There's nothing funnier than giving an animal high status, especially when they shit in a box.
