It's up early, peoples!

EDIT: Wait, today's Thursday. OK, it isn't early at all. But it's up!

Fear is the mind killer!...sorry, had to.

It's fantastic that this text is so dense with meaning that you can devote a whole episode to the first 3 paragraphs!

I would argue that deeper even than fear is avoidance and fascination. I don't mean unease; I mean acting a certain way based upon wholly unconscious thought processes. Unease and fear can progress out from the recognition that you are acting a certain way--and having to try to figure out why. There's a lot of research going on these days about cues in the environment (like for instance frowning faces) that can influence actions and reactions--without our even being aware. A book called "Ordinary Horror" uses this to excellent effect (and I'm pretty sure he's influenced by Lovecraft).

Horror in literature? Understanding something through snaps and actors is so damn easier then reading the same lines in literary books. Even more difficult is remembering repeating the same.

Finally got to listen to it today, was fun.  Had to go and order the Joshi annotated version to read along with.
