Have ya’ll considering talking about Creepy Pasta? It’s hardly classic horror fiction, but a lot of it has awesome weird elements. There are eldritch horrors like the Slenderman, the Rake, and Zalgo. You also have stories that start out gruesome then slowly work toward terror, contrary to the usual order of fear. I can suggest some reading, if you’d like.

Lovecraft’s personal concept of horror always has struck me like something intertwined with knowledge; with the revelation of that awful reality that lies behind the physical veil of the senses and the limits of our intelligence. We can see that trait in his very characters. Except for passive characters like Nahum and his family upon which fall the cosmic horror like a doom; most Lovecraft’s characters are burning with the hunger for everything from beyond. They’re active researchers of the unknown.
David Linch: to me he’s the right person to make justice to Lovecraft in the Big Screen. He knows how to deal with an atmosphere literally wet with horror and have a SF experience with one of the most defiant and mind-bending film of the whole history of the genre… Dune.

There was a made-for-tv movie which was supposed to be about the same family the Poltergeist movies were based on, and in the TV movie there was a seen where the clock stopped much like you described, and gods was that creepy. In a differnt made-for-tv supposedly-true ghost movie, a family moves into a duplex, and the mom’s parents move into the other half. The mom, Janet, is in the basement doing laundry, and you hear her mother call her name from upstairs. Janet calls back, “I’m down here, Mom!” and then a moment later you hear her mom call “Janet!” again, sounds like it’s closer, and Janet calls back again. And then you hear her mom “Janet!” again, but the sound is in the room with her. One of the creepiest things I’ve seen on TV.

I just wanted to let you know: I hope you cover William Hope Hodgson’s “The Night Land”. SO EPIC yet SO PAINFUL. I guess you could do “The House on the Borderland” instead, but please, do the whole “Night Land”! Go the whole hog!!!
English used to have two second person pronouns, you/ye was plural and thee/thou was singular. Then, because language (especially English) does strange things, you/ye became formal and and thee/thou turned familiar. Then, because people are lazy and don’t like having two words for one thing, we lost thee/thou altogether. And then we were left with this gaping hole in the language where the second person plural pronoun used to be, so we started making up our own (ya’ll and yous) based on what used to be the second person plural in the first place.
This is either awesome or horribly wrong, I can’t decide.
