Episode 379 – Out of the Deep
We’re back to talk childhood trauma in Walter de la Mare’s Out of the Deep! (We read this story in Out of the Deep and Other Supernatural Tales – in this episode we quote from the introduction).
Our readings are once again executed with precision by the one and only Greig Johnson!
Special thanks to Wesley Slover for music from his album Impressions of the Miskatonic!
Next up: A Recluse
Chad’s childhood is starting sound more like the Events at Poroth Farm.
Grieg is amazing, as always! I found this story to be a lot more fun when I read it out loud. The narrator tends to babble, and it is easier to make sense of what he is getting on with when you read it that way. I was wishing de la Mare would up the creepiness factor a bit, but maybe the ghostly servants are not supposed to be threatening? The pig monster reminded me of The Amityville Horror. I wonder if they stole it from him.
Thanks for another great one, guys!
